The Project

Our brief was to extend the life of the current gelcoat for 12 months thus reducing the need for costly re-spray and a lengthy period out of the water. The painted surfaces had never been re-sprayed since the vessel was new, instead the Captain choose to apply rennovation products on a yearly basis.

Our Solution

Since we had treated the vessel previously using traditional sealants we felt that it was vital that this treatment exploited the new advances that have taken place in the industry in the last year.

The traditional sealants that we used last time gave a superb short term finish but looked tried towards the end of the season. Our team advised the Captain to consider a longer term solution as this would save money over time.

Our new range of sealants, with professional application, can yield a minimum of 12 months life expectancy.

Our next step was to test the Awlgrip and gelcoat surfaces to determine the best product for the job. Our comprehensive tests showed conclusively that A-Glaze was the best product and would yield the greatest results.

Although the surfaces had discoloured and oxidised due to age and the working environment we quickly established that even the most tarnished could be both back to the levels expected by the Captain. All of our work is guaranteed for a full 12 months both by SeaSkin and A-Glaze.

The Results

The Captain was suitably impressed to book a superstructure renovation in December 2008 and a full hull treatment in March 2008.
